After the success of Operation Big Beat's I and II, this was the Beatles third appearance at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton. The Ballroom attracted some 2,000 people   under the title the 'Big Beat Sessions' promoted by Sam Leach.

During the evening 6 different bands entertained the audience for five and a half hours . The other bands, as well as the Beatles were Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, Dale Roberts and the Jaywalkers, Derry and the Seniors, Kingsize Taylor and the Dominoes, and Steve Day and the Drifters.

One week later, and after promoter, Sam Leach had secured the booking of Davy Jones, the Beatles played support on 'The Davy Jones Show' also held at the Tower Ballroom, along with Rory Storn and the Hurricanes, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Earl Preston and the TT's and the Remo Four. A late, late addition to the bill was South African, Danny Williams, who happened to be in Liverpool promoting his latest hit 'Moon River' at the Cabaret Club.
