After attending a lunchtime audition in London, the Beatles travelled back to Liverpool in time to appear at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton, which was hosting the 12th Annual " Lancashire and Cheshire Arts Ball "  from 7.30pm until 2am. The cost of attending this event was 7/6d.

As well as the Beatles (North's No 1 Group), other acts to appear at this charity event included Llew Hird's (London's Top Jazz Band), Billy Kramer & the Coasters (One of the North's Popular Groups), and The Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion Liverpool Scottish Regiment (the Queens own Cameron Highlanders). All proceeds raised from the evenings events were to go to various Childrens Charities. There was also a Grand Fancy Dress Contest with GBP25 in prizes awarded between 3 classes.

The compere and M.C.for the evening was Bob Wooler.( spelt Wooller on the advertising poster)
