The Beatles appearance at the Plaza Ballroom, Duke Street, St. Helens, Lancashire on 25th June 1962 was their fist at this venue and their fist appearance under promotor Harry Bostock of  Whetstone Entertainments, who also promoted dances at two other ballrooms in the region, at Orrell Park in Liverpool and Riverpark in Cheshire.

After opening in 1956, the ballroom first starting entertaining local bands in 1958 and in 1959, the ballroom was exclusively used for groups to perform. The ballroom was open four nights a week on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and played host to many of the top merseyside bands.

This show was billed as the 'Big Beat Bargain Night' Starring the North's No. 1 Rock Combo The Beatles, Just Back from their Sensational German Tour Now Recording Exclusively for Parlophone. They're Terrific - You must see them. First ever appearance in St. Helens

The Non-Stop Jive Session fron 7.30pm to 11pm also featured The Big Three and admission was two shillings and six pence (12 1/2p)
