This Beatles made three live appearances on this day, Friday, 15th
September 1961. The first appearance was at the Cavern Club (at lunchtime), the second was
at the Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey, which happened to be the Beatles last appearance at
this venue and the final appearance was at the mock Tudor, Kotty Ash Village Hall, at the
junction of Eaton Road and East Prescot Road. Given that the evening session at the
Grosvenor Ballroom lasted from 7.15pm - 11pm, the Beatles must have performed fairly early
here enabling them to get back across the water to perform their last show of the
day. The last show was a continuation of 'part time' manager, Mona Best, attempting
to promote the Beatles. With future dates already secured for the Beatles to play at
the Cavern Club, Mona began a series of shows at this venue over a six month period. This was the Beatles debut appearance at the Knotty Ash Village Hall and the following dates were also secured by Mona Best. 22nd September 1961 20th October 1961 27th October 1961 10th November 1961 17th November 1961 The Beatles were supported by The Big Three. General admission was charged at 3/6, but with a special ticket and an early appearance (before 8.30pm) at the entrance, the fee was reduced to 2/6. |
