The Cavern Club, Mathew Street, Liverpool, the world's most famous club and the venue
for nearly 300 Beatles performances. 1961 would be the year that the Beatles would play at
the club on no fewer than 85 different dates (not including when they did both lunchtime
and evening sessions). George Harrison would play his debut Cavern performance for The
Beatles on 21st February and on that same date Stuart Sutcliffe, the original bass player,
would play his one and only show with The Beatles at this venue. The 9th November 1961 is
supposedly the first time that the groups future manager, Brain Epstien, would see The
Beatles play for the first time at this venue.
